RSME-IMAGINARY in Logroño

The exhibition RSME-IMAGINARY is back traveling in Spain, starting in Logroño. This time it is accompanied by an exhibition of historical geometric models from the 19th century.
The exhibition “Through the eyes of mathematics” opens the second stage of its travels through Spain. Its installation in Logroño features the usual exhibits of IMAGINARY: Surfer, Morenaments, Cinderella-Imaginary, jReality and 3D-XplorMath, together with the images and algebraic sculptures. This time, however, IMAGINARY comes with a rare exhibition of plaster geometric models from the 19th century, designed around 1870 by Alexander von Brill and Felix Klein, that belonged to the professor and mathematician Zoel García de Galdeano. The models were donated in 1924 to the University of Zaragoza and have been restored in 2011. The exhibition contrasts the different realizations of the same timeless mathematical surfaces; some in 19th century plaster, and their counterparts on 21th century screens.
