Les instantanés sont des articles courts et faciles à comprendre sur des thèmes d’actualité de la recherche mathématique. Ils expliquent les problèmes et idées mathématiques d’une façon accessible et compréhensible, et donnent des aperçus passionnants des préoccupations actuelles de la communauté mathématique pour toute personne qui s’intéresse aux mathématiques actuelles.
Les instantanés sont tous écrits par de véritables experts de leurs domaines.
Au Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach, ce sont chaque semaine entre 50 et 60 experts qui viennent du monde entier travailler ensemble sur les défis actuels des mathématiques. Ils introduisent de nouveaux résultats, discutent différentes approches, et développent de nouvelles idées. Après chaque symposium, l’institut demande à des participants choisis d’expliquer un aspect de leur recherche, dans un langage compréhensible par le grand public, en quelques pages. De jeunes mathématiciens relisent les articles en étroite collaboration avec les auteurs et les aident à communiquer des choses compliquées à une audience non spécialiste. Ensemble, ils préparent une version retravaillée prête à publier.

À ce jour, 23 instantanés sont disponibles en anglais et en allemand. D’autres suivront. Certains sont déjà en cours de traduction vers d’autres langues. Vous pouvez trier par domaine des mathématiques et/ou par liens avec d’autres domaines, ainsi que par auteurs.
Le projet «Instantanés» est conçu pour promouvoir la compréhension et l’appréciation des mathématiques actuelles et de la recherche mathématique par le grand public sur toute la planète. Dans le cadre du projet «Oberwolfach rencontre IMAGINARY», il est financé par le Klaus Tschira Stiftung et par la Oberwolfach Foundation.
